This PoS project adapts 5G private networks to enhance Danhai light rail operation efficiency via ultra low latency (uRLLC) and eMBB for massive video capabilities. The system will be integrated with Danhai new town traffic control platform; various IoT devices and sensors will be placed inside the train, roadside, intersections, etc., along with the 5G-Wi-Fi 6 private networks to facilitate the safely schemes and enhance train speed. Also the system is able to track foreign objects that may hazard to rail operations, and to monitor pantograph and cable temperature in real time for the train driver and the traffic control center. Edge server zMEC will be placed to coordinate the operations with cloud such as the train control center, to improve the network cybersecurity, among others. AI/ML can be used to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance system security. It is believed that this project will set as an example for integrating light rail control and urban traffic control.
Without interfering with the existing train communication systems, the project may facilitate the metro authority to improve the operation efficiency through better safety, shorter travelling time, and better quality services and passenger satisfaction.
